OBI 7/13 Longest day ever!
We got up bright and early packed our bags and headed out to our transportation to the jetty port. One of the vehicles had a flat so Sir Dan had to acquire another one and we were off. Once on our boat, it was apparent as it backed off that something wasn’t quite right (don’t know what it is about us and boats the last couple days). But true Filipino style, they rigged it so that we could travel over to the other island. We were met on Panai by our driver who would take us to the Kalibo Airport, about an hour drive. About a mile and a half down the road the back hatch popped open and Robs bag tumbled out, so Jim ran back and got it. Never a dull moment in the Philippines. We made it to MacDonalds for breakfast and then on to the Airport.
We flew to Manilla and were met by our driver there who was going to take us to a place where they have lots of exotic animals, an old and very interesting Catholic church and then on to the Mall of Asia. After driving around for about 3 hours and stopping at the wrong church, we finally talked him into just taking us to the mall (the only place he knew how to find). We enjoyed some air con time and seeing what this huge mall crowded with thousands of people was like. We had a nice sit-down dinner (Alec got his whole fish experience) and then off to the Manilla International Airport for our final flight out of the country. Our flight was delayed and we had to sit in a “holding area” with no access to anything, including bathrooms, for several hours until we boarded.
