OBI- July 12- Enjoying God's Beautiful Creation

Enjoy today’s exciting update from Rachel! Tomorrow will be our last Sunday in the Philippines and we are praying that God does big things in and through our team!
I’m very proud to say that this morning Kate, Michael and I woke up an hour early to run on the beach for the first time! We ran one morning at orientation, but Orange, CA doesn’t even compare to the view we have here.
At 7:30 the team started off with devotions in James 4, ate breakfast, and found out we were going island hopping! We drove to a port and loaded onto a boat which took us to Borocay’s coral reefs. All decked out in our swim suits and snorkels, each of us took a piece of bread to attract all the fish and just looked around in amazement of God’s underwater creation. We “hopped” from the first snorkeling spot to a second, and lastly to Puka Beach where we collected some shells and pieces of coral. Michael even brought a waterproof camera so we could take pictures! After being out on the water all morning, we headed back to the Vista for lunch, and then all us girls plus Nate went shopping at one of the local markets. He was such a good sport walking around for two hours while the five of us went crazy over the abundance of souvenirs.
Meeting up with the rest of the team, we left for a feeding site on the island with animal balloons, puppets and all. The kids loved both, especially the puppets—we couldn’t even hear the music over their shouting and laughter! Jade was a boss at holding the speakers and singing over all the noise. Anne and I led the children’s songs at this site, and Josh told the story of Jonah while the puppets acted it out. The kids all colored while Kate gave each one a vitamin, and then Cari served the food. Afterwards at the Vista, we all sprinted down to the beach and witnessed the prettiest sunset so far on this trip. It was an incredible ending to a long but refreshing day. None of us can believe how time has flown by, and we know that God will use each day we have left here as another opportunity to spread His love to the children, teenagers and adults in the Philippines 🙂
