OBI- July 14- Soccer Camps

Our mornings here on Boracay look very similar to one another yet they are some of the most precious times of the day. Team Devotions each morning continues to be a blessing and something that leaves each of us challenged and encouraged by the words of James. Following our delicious breakfast we headed towards the ministry center for a morning of cleaning. Wednesday there will be about 70 Filipino Pastors here for a 3 day Bible School where they will sit through intense Biblical teachings. We were privileged to be a part of that by helping Dan clean all of the sleeping rooms and the main meeting room. Since the Ministry Center still has construction taking place, everything was quite dirty so we spent quite some time cleaning up the trash and sweeping the dusty floors. Once that was finished we went to work with the mops and towels as we mopped all the floors and cleaned all of the walls with soapy water! The Ministry Center looked so much better by the time we were done with our master cleaning.
The afternoon following lunch allowed for two hours of free time. So some people headed to the beach while others spent time journaling and yet others took a nap! We then quickly loaded up and headed over to Panay where we helped Coach Clod put on a soccer camp for the Masa Ati School students. The OBI team members paired up and each pairing became a coach for the day. They each lead a station for warm up and then were the coaches of the teams that would eventually scrimmage each other. Even though not many of our students play soccer, each did a wonderful job at demonstrating the skills and trying their hardest to help these kids learn the skills. At the end of the day many shared that though they were worried or dreading the soccer camp, it was the highlight of everyone’s day!
Upon arriving back at the Vista we enjoyed yet another beautiful sunset as a team and then enjoyed some great fellowship over dinner. Another highlight of our daily routine is being able to share with each other what our highlight from the day was and what was most difficult. It allows us as a team to understand a little bit more deeply how each person handled the events of the day! Tonight a majority of the team headed down to the beach to do some final souvenir shopping. Those of you at home should be excited about what you are about to see or receive!
Please continue praying for us as tomorrow is our last day on Boracay. Most of us are not looking forward to saying goodbye to the friends we have made here, but we know that we have left an everlasting impact on their lives.
Please pray for our team as we are scheduled to return to the US on Friday (OBI Time). As you probably have seen on the news, there is stormy weather coming through the Philippines this week. Please pray for that our travel will not be impacted and that we will be able to fly at the regularly scheduled time.
Thank you for all the prayers and we look forward to seeing everyone at home soon 🙂
