The Great Divide
Today was an incredibly busy day, but oh was it so good. Ed Lewis started out the morning with two more talks on evangelism with a quick session of choir sandwiched between them. The students are sounding so beautiful that the choir sessions keep getting both fewer and shorter. How exciting! When lunchtime arrived, Grace College again came through and provided us with some Papa Johns for lunch.
The most exciting part of the day arrived after lunch when the students were finally split into Team Ohio and Team Indiana. It all went down like this: The students’ cell phones were arranged in two groups on a table. They were told to grab their phone and sit down on the side of the table their phone was on. Before accessing their phones to call home, the students were asked to recite Acts 11:23-24 as well as a few other ministry tools they have been learning. TK then announced that the teams were divided based on what side of the table the student’s phone was on. It was an exciting time and also one of great joy and mourning for our students.
As the students still took in the announcement, everything became a whirlwind as the teams were rushed outside in order to take a team picture in front of their team bus. They then had their first speech choir as a team where each team nailed down specific volume and diction characteristics that they are looking for when it comes to their speech choir. Things got busy as both teams split into three small groups in order they may each learn different skits, dances, and puppet songs. The students got on their feet and did an incredible job dancing the afternoon away. While doing puppets today, some students may have used some muscles in their arms today
From there the teams separated to talk some more and to start gaining some team unity. They ate dinner at separate locations and spent time playing games and getting to know each other. Both teams returned to CE National later in the evening to prepare for the talent show. Watching the students prepare their poems, songs, dances, and so much more was beyond exciting. Both talent shows will be absolutely incredible. The students sat down for one last session where they learned about fear and its impact.
The night was finished out with a fast team meeting before both teams officially laid down for bed as either Team Indiana or Team Ohio. God planned out these teams so perfectly, and we cannot wait to see what He has planned for each student individually as well as for Team Indiana and Team Ohio.
Please pray for each team, that the students will continue to build relationships and that the teams will find comradery. Please also pray for strength and for wisdom as each student tries to learn their dances, puppet songs, pantomimes, and as they memorize their lines for both speech choir and skits.
