July 10th- Team Ohio
The morning was bittersweet as the students were sad to wake up and said goodbye to 242 Community Church, but also excited to head off to Lexington, Ohio. Everyone was happy to hear that this would be one of our longer bus rides, and the bus ride ended up being great. The five hour journey was spent talking, laughing, lots of naps, and even an hour of some worship with just a guitar. Each ride gets better and better as we continually grow closer and closer together as a “family.”
We arrived at Lexington Grace Brethren and heard about the church from Matt Rupple, the senior pastor as well as Nathanial Foote, the youth pastor. The church served us a delicious home-cooked italian dinner before we hopped on the bus and headed to a nearby park for a program. We were all set for our program when God had a different plan in mind, so we decided to reschedule it for tomorrow night. Instead of the program another ministry opportunity arrived, and we headed to the camp ground of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and invited all of the campers (who happened to be bikers) there to a free pancake breakfast that would be held in the morning at the church. It was an interesting environment because a lot of the bikers were riding around on motorcycles, dirt bikes, or four-wheelers; but they were all so friendly, and we loved talking to them.
As the evening came to a close, the students grabbed all of their stuff and headed into host homes for the night.
Please pray for energy and strength tomorrow as it is going to be our earliest morning yet as we have to help out with the pancake breakfast. Please also pray for our park program tomorrow. Pray that kids will come and be open to hearing about Jesus and His love for them.
Goodnight from Team Ohio and God Bless!
