July 12, 2015- Team Ohio
This morning, Team Ohio ended their time in Lexington, Ohio by doing the 9:30 service for the congregation. The members were so appreciative of all the energy and joy that the students were able to bring through their puppet songs, dancing, and worship. One o the best parts of the morning is that a family that was at the park program last night was at church this morning. The students were so excited and encouraged. Before we left the church, we as a team sang to Allie W. and celebrated her birthday with donuts. We then all quickly got on the bus and made a stop at Wendy’s before making the 45 minute journey to Grace Polaris.
When we arrived in Columbus, we were greeted by Matt, the student ministries pastor. He shared about himself and the church before we headed to Alum Creek State Park to celebrate some baptisms alongside the church. The students were able to witness 6 outdoor baptisms as well as join the members in praying for the church as well as the 6 individuals. The baptisms were followed by a picnic style dinner where the church graciously provided pizza for the students. It was a great time for interaction, and it was a great time getting our toes wet and having fun in the water.
As the evening went on, the weather was not in our favor, and it started to storm. We headed back to the youth center to stay dry where we all hung out as a team. A large group of the students played hantis for a while while the rest just talked, laughed, and had a great time playing with three giant bean bags that were at the youth center. It was much more fun then it sounds. Trust me. Around 8:00, host families arrived, and the students left for the night.
Please pray for the kids that the students will interact with tomorrow. The majority of the day will be spent helping out with a lunch club that occurs in the summer in the City of Westerville.
Goodnight from Team Ohio and God Bless!
