July 24, 2015- Team Ohio
This morning, we woke up at Grace Polaris, got ready and hopped on the bus to head 25 minutes north to Delaware, Ohio. We arrived at Happy Hearts in Delaware (a horse camp for kids with special needs) around 9:00, and we received instruction on what the day would look like. The students were split into groups with some of the kids with special needs and they rotated between activities for two hours supervising and interacting with the kids. The four rotations included crafts, games, playing with the miniature horses, and horseback riding.
Following the rotations, we all ate a lunch of hot dogs, walking tacos, homemade mac-and-cheese, and cupcakes. Before leaving the camp, we were able to actual have our final program in the barn. Because our audience was a little different than normal, that means our program was also a little different than normal, but the students did a great job adjusting and interacting with the kids.
By mid-afternoon we headed back to the church to take showers and to have group nap time. Around 5:00, we went to Polaris Mall where everyone grouped up to eat dinner, walk around the mall to talk to people, and also fill out their final evaluations for the summer. During this time, the leaders were able to sit down with some of the students to start doing exit interviews. As the evening drew to a close, we headed back to the church and went to bed.
Please pray for receptive hearts within the students as the leaders continue to do exit interviews, and pray that the students will continue to prepare their hearts and minds for when they go home.
Goodnight from Team Ohio and God Bless!
