Team Ohio- July 24, 2015
Our first day of orientation began with a fire drill bright and early at 7:30. The students did a great job of waking up and heading outside quickly so that we were able to head back to bed till 9:00. We awoke for the second time and got ready for our day before spending an hour with the Lord.
Mid-morning, we got on the bus and headed to Easton Town Center to spend the majority of the afternoon. Everyone split into groups and headed into the mall to eat lunch, shop, talk to people, and just have fun. During this time, the leaders also were able to continue doing exit interviews. As the afternoon came to a close, we headed to Delaware Grace Church to have dinner. There was a special evening planned, seeing as the guys were going to serve the girls dinner. On our way there, we stopped at Kroger and the guys picked up flowers, candles, broccoli, and ingredients for homemade fettuccine chicken alfredo and dirt pudding. The girls hung out in the sanctuary while the guys worked hard in the kitchen: cutting, cooking, stirring, and preparing the tables. The guys escorted the girls into their seats, poured their drinks, and served their plates. Some good music was even playing throughout the entire dinner. In all, the guys had a great time serving and learning the ways of the kitchen, and the girls felt loved and cherished just as though they should be. (A huge thanks to the youth pastor at Delaware, Alex and his wife Melody for letting us use the church and for spending the evening with us)
Following dinner, we headed back to Polaris to debrief and have our “auction.” (We have had a lost and found on the bus for the past six weeks, and if no one claims the items, we allowed them to be auctioned off) The items included random socks, water bottles, a cape, and even a pair of underwear. The students had so much fun bidding for each others stuff, and using their abundance of quarters that they have accumulated over the summer. It was a great day, and we are all excited for tomorrow.
Please pray for receptive hearts within the students as the leaders continue to do exit interviews, and pray that the students will continue to prepare their hearts and minds for when they go home.
Goodnight from Team Ohio and God Bless!
