Team East – You've Seen One, You've Seen theMALL – July 1st

Some days are harder than others. Today was a tough day.
But it was tough in good ways! This morning, after a short night of sleep for the guys, girls showed up at the church and all the students got to have some quiet time with the Lord. After about a half hour, the youth group students arrived and everyone gathered for a short worship time led by one of the CCC girls and then a teaching time led by TK on the topic of responsibility.
Lunch was prepared by some from the church. During lunch, we were able to have more interaction with the students in the youth group and other adults from the church. It was a good time for fellowship!
Into the afternoon, the team spent time at the local mall, intentionally seeking out conversations with people. This was a stretching time for our students as they initiated with lots of people from different walks of life. Some cool conversations happened, and students were able to learn about how to naturally have spiritual conversations with people.
After returning to the church, the students were each given two dollars and then dropped off at a grocery store to buy supplies for their dinner. The activity is used to incorporate teamwork where students have to figure out how to best utilize their money to provide for their dinner. The students were given ten minutes in the store, and then an hour afterwards to prepare their dinner. This was tough for some of the team, but it yielded good outcome where the students had to work out their differences.
To end the day, the team traveled to Jim Mack’s, an ice cream, mini-golf, petting zoo, basketball-palooza of a place (basically I’m saying that I have no clue what this place was). Four local youth groups joined up to have a fun night and see the Operation Barnabas team. We got to put on a short program that resulted in good discussions with those around us.
Host families then came and picked up students, and they should now be resting nicely. The team faced some adversity today, but it was addressed and handled in a profitable way. Please pray for the students as they continue to work together for the task at hand.

The Jonah skit is a favorite amongst the OB students.
